Beauregard Keyes House Wedding with Southern Gothic Flair

Kate and Chase wanted to create a wedding experience that was a celebration of their community and the Southern Gothic aesthetic that makes New Orleans such a cool place to get married. Their Beauregard Keyes House wedding incorporated creative decor and heartfelt rituals for an unforgettable celebration.

A Beauregard Keyes House Wedding

The Beauregard Keyes House is a historic wedding venue in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Built in 1826, it remained a luxurious residential property until 1970. Then it was converted into a museum and event space. Now you can host a ceremony in the dreamy garden and a reception in the courtyard. This venue has lots of charm with roses growing over topiaries and easy access to the French Quarter.

Dark Fairytale Aesthetic

A Beauregard Keyes House wedding was perfect for Chase and Kate’s wedding aesthetic. They described their vision to me as a “Southern-Gothic garden party.” The Beauregard Keyes House courtyard has the ideal setting to bring that to life. Strings of lights illuminate the outdoor space, and Chase and Kate’s planner upped the moody atmosphere by adding tall pillar candles around the fountain.

The reception decor added to the dark fairytale aesthetic with black tapers surrounded by dark floral arrangements. Tea lights hung in globes from the centerpieces to add an unexpected glow to the tablescape. New Orleans is known for its (slightly spooky) romantic ambiance, so I love that Kate and Chase fully embraced that in their decor.

A Community Celebration

As cool as the wedding design was for this Beauregard Keyes House wedding, the focus on chosen family and friends is what made it so special. At every stage of the day, Kate and Chase were surrounded by community. They even included all of their closest people in their first dance. Family and friends from so many seasons of their lives came together to dance and celebrate Chase and Kate’s love.

During the ceremony, Chase and Kate invited friends and family to join in a Rainbow Ribbon Tying ceremony. Everyone tied a ribbon around Kate and Chase and took turns sharing their blessings. This moment felt like an embodiment of everything Kate and Chase wanted out of their wedding. Everyone got to be themselves and be present in a kind, affirming space.
